At Better Piggies Rescue, the Arizona Humane Society placed the two unexpected animal companions together.
Chihuahua and pig are indeed close-knit together Timon and Pumbaa, a chihuahua and a pig, respectively, were rescued earlier this month when their prior owner was detained on charges unrelated to animal cruelty, according to an announcement from the Arizona Humane Society (AHS). A dog-pig relationship is undoubtedly an exception, despite the fact that it is typically not recommended that dogs and pigs live together.
In order to provide Pumbaa with medical care, AHS contacted the experts at the Arizona shelter, which was unable to cope with Pumbaa’s needs. A call was made to Better Piggies Rescue for assistance. As a result, Pumbaa and Timon didn’t have to fall through the cracks, since Better Piggies was able to provide them with a place to live. The two friends have a permanent home, according to a post made on the Better Piggies Rescue’s Facebook page on May 23. Better Piggers intends to make Pumbaa a long-term ambassador after the animal “made himself right at home in the front of the sanctuary” with the facility’s resident pigs.
Better Piggies Rescue posted on social media, “he’s a natural greeter and can’t wait for everyone to meet him when we start up tours in September. Plus, he needs to be near his best friend, Timon, who we are working with to become a sanctuary dog.”
